The origin story of: Fried Rice

My boyfriend wanted me to make a post talking about fried rice so here it is..

Let me tell you how silly I feel Googling the origins of fried rice just to find out that it is lost in history… yes lost we may never know who the founder of this beloved dish is but we thank them for it. According to www.thespruceeats.com however there is some back story to fried rice, and it is believed to be “invented sometime during the Sui dynasty (A.D. 589–618), in the city of Yangzhou in eastern Jiangsu province.” Rice is a staple grain that is grown in Southern China so that is why even to this day you will find many rice dishes that have stemmed from and are still being served there.

To make the perfect fried rice you only need a few ingredients: steamed (preferably 1-2 days old) rice, veggies, eggs and meat. Add some soy sauce, mix it all together and you’ve got yourself a delicious side dish, or you can make it your entire meal! ❤
